The project is a collaboration between the Department Biosciences Engineering of the University of Antwerp and Oprins Plant NV, and is co-financed by the European Union. On the 21 of April 2010 the project was approved for a period of two years. The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Hermes, and the province of Antwerp are all co-financing. The resulting amount was sponsored by the University of Antwerp as promoter, Oprins Plant NV as copromoter, Genicap Corporation NV, and De Kolonie bvba.
